I go over the interview that I did with Alex and talk about the Podcast Hotel. Touching a little bit on the Video Road Show that Eric Rice put on johnny@theroadshow.jpg who is the “nurturing” guy in the shades is this Blog renewable?

I am really excited about OSCON and look forward to next week and checking out some of the tutorials and the sessions. I spend quite a bit of time talking about future technologies and going over some things I have written about in the past in relation to futurology and such.

Podacst Hotel Interview

July 24th, 2005 by Johnny

I interview Alex Williams about the Podcast Hotel –http://www.podcasthotel.com/ — The Podcast Hotel - Sept 6-8, 2005 in Portland, OR - is part conference, part think tank, part happening, and part product showcase. The three-day, two-night event, to be held at Portland’s hippest new hotel - The Jupiter, is designed to attract the individuals and companies racing to embrace podcasting in particular and the mass amateurization of content creation in general. Alex ends up turning the microphone on me and asking me about application development and what is needed in Blogging, Podcasting and Video Blogging.

Ramblings from the Road

July 15th, 2005 by Johnny

So here I find myself in yet another airport waiting for a plane thinking to myself how many things are coming up. A little more than 2 months away from baby, I just finished a whirlwind Portland-Phoenix-Portland-Seattle-Portland-California-Portland-California-Portland. I just shimmied out of adding a San Diego trip to the end of that list. So I will be settling in at home for at least a few weeks. But this does not mean I am slowing down, no far from it.

This weekend is Eric Rice’s road show in Portland, in fact I just got off the phone with Alex and he and Eric were headed out for the night, I should have caught an earlier flight.

We have Podcast Hotel details to work on; we don’t want a WIFI melt down or other technical difficulties to cause us grief. We also need to work out some other logistics and I just need to spend a debriefing with Alex about Gnomedex. Next week I have the Portland Podcasting meet up, OSCON prep and a PHP meeting as well as being the last week before the ESRI conference to work out any kinks for the Keynote and other presentations that ManyOne is involved with.

I need to apologies to Josh, Tim and Jason I never got back to the post about audio and the Noise Squad on portlandpodcasting.org. I also need to send out an apology to Chris P about my neglecting my writing responsibilities for Lockergnome. I am back and will be sending you some stuff soon.

So I figured I should get back into my neglected web site and get some content rolling. I will be getting some other writings up soon that have been in limbo as well as any content related to this weekend extravaganza with the one and only Eric Rice.

Falling off the blog

July 8th, 2005 by Johnny

Well I feel like I have fallen off the face of the earth. I had such an amazing time at Gnomedex 5 and then immediately had to turn around and leave town on business.

Gnomedex was incredible I had a great time and Chris and Ponzi were AWSOME hosts. I have so much to share I recorded almost the entire event. Now I need to find the time. I defiantly do not have enough of that to do much of anything. I have been burning the candle way to bright and at both ends so I was very run down by the time I left for California.

So I should have known that Murphy was going to be waiting for me when I landed. I had a wonderful day and a great dinner, Thank You Julie. I made it back to the hotel and to bed by around midnight. I woke up and boom I was knocked on my butt. As the day progressed I got steadily worse and finally had to surrender to the illness around 3 pm Nyquil and 18 hours of sleep did nothing for me I was only worse.

The next day I dragged my butt into the office in California and got every variation of “My GOD you look like crap” you can imagine. Again I surrendered to the disease and relented early that afternoon and took myself back to the Best Western. More Nyquil and some sleep and I was still dreadfully ill. One more day onsite and it was time to leave. I finally got on and air plane and was miserable until we started to land.

As a grown man I don’t find myself ready to break into tears very often but I almost lost it on the decent. I kept visualizing my head literally exploding from the pressure and pain. Ice picks jammed over and over into my ears and brain is the only thing that comes close. I thought for a moment I would pass out or at least rupture an eardrum. The wheel squeaked as we touched down, thank you merciful lord!

It was like a strange delirium the entire way out of the air port. A Bus ride to long term parking then onto the freeway where they of course had closed the on ramp and thinned the highway to one lane for some road work, it figures.

So now I am back and so far behind it has taken me an entire week just to get time to write anything down. Well all I can say is I will get as much about Gnomedex as I can as soon as I can. Hopefully it will be up before Gnomedex 6. You should check out the Gnomedex wiki and the flickr Gnomedex group. Http://www.gnomedex.com will link you to all this stuff. You can also check out my Flickr stuff http://www.flickr.com/photos/websage/
