InternetWeek | The ‘PBS Of The Web’
Just at the moment when Google, the Web’s darling child, agreed to censor its search results at the behest of the Chinese government, sparking intense criticism from free speech advocates; a new medium appeared promising to make the Internet truly open and democratic.

Here is a great story on the supression of science. We all need to open our eyes to what is going on in the world. I have worked with Dr. Robert Corell and have head him speak to this issue and what he has to say is echoed in Dr. James Hasens research. Watch the video. I am normally not a huge fan of major media but in this case I say nice job ABC.

Well I hope those of you who have been subscribed to this blog have made your way here. It was late I was gung ho and made some swift movement on migrating the domain that hosts this blog to the current one you are at. I also upgraded to
2.0 which I have been using on the new PMO I am setting up for Glimpse of Tomorrow site and really liked it. So in my haste the RSS feed for the old location got screwed up. I was not thinking and really do apologies for any one I have inconvenienced. So I promise no more moves this is the new permanent home for this personal media outlet. Right On! I am ready. The last Podcast Hotel was a blast! Now we move north to Seattle for the 2nd installment of what I hope becomes a mainstay of the un-conference circuit. We missed out on some of the crowd last time due to the problems with a sponsor who backed out last minute making us change the date (sorry Todd and any others who got screwed on travel) . Well not this time. It is defined and DEFIANTLY not a Corporate stuff shirt event. Really great sponsors this time around who are on the same vibe as this event. It is time to get down and funky with some AWESOME indie music.
Last time we chilled at the Doug Fir and Sabalas where PBR’s were in bloom
If you are not at this event then you don’t know how to have fun..
“After a great event in Portland, the Podcast Hotel is coming to Seattle Feb. 23-25 at the Triple Door Theater in downtown Seattle. We’ll turn this former vaudeville theater into a podcast studio to discuss the basics of podcasting, promotions, distribution and licensing issues. The conference is designed for independent musicians, artists, podcasters and people interested in grass roots media.

The MyCast has always been a part of the Podcaster News Network but as of a few days ago we have added an add content feature for Google Personalized. It gives you a PodcasterNews Last 5. This component shows the last five shows posted to PCN. You can play the show directly in your personalized Google page. If you are not familiar with Google Personalized on the main page in the upper right hand corner you will see a link Personalized Home click on that and if you have a gmail or other Google account you can just log in if not you can easily create an account. Once you are logged in click on Add Content in the upper left hand corner. Go down to Create a Section and put this sting in — http://www.podcasternews.com/google/podcasternews.xml -then click go. Now this is very cool but I would remind you that you can customize the MyCast on PCN in much greater detail as well as have more than just the last 5 shows posted. The MyCast feature is just one more way PodcasterNews is trying to make your podcasting listening experience as easy and enjoyable as possible. Keep on listening. Remember you can find me doing Glimpse of Tomorrow on PCN.

So I got the skinny on this earlier from the man himself. As a long time audio blog user and a true believer in the new media revolution this is AWESOME! Give it a look and if you are not and audio blog subscriber I would recommend checking into that as well.
Let’s go tag/podcast/itunes/timetravel/audioblog cah-razzzzy
Some new features went out today on Audioblog.com, and I’ll be posting screenshots and how-to docs on our news and support blog.
1. Link to external files… For example, if you want our functionality but your audio or video files live someplace else like Ourmedia.org, Blip or Odeo, no problem.
2. Phase one of our tag initiative… When composing your audio or videoblgo post, you can add rel= to hyperlinks (we whitelisted the rel tag)… Check Technorati’s tutorial on tagging and use any of those models.
3. Time Travel (heh, well sorta) set the publish date to a date in the future– as many as you like
4. Choose to publish a post’s visibility (hidden or visible)

Here is more from Dr. Larry Sanger — Co-Founder of Wikipedia and now Director of Distributed Content Programs for the Digital Universe.
“I want to explain how to take the long view of the Digital Universe project–at least the view of the coming year.
It would have been silly to judge the future of graphical user interfaces based on the first Macintosh. It would have been silly to judge Wikipedia based on the state of the project after just six months.
Similarly, it is of course silly to judge the future of the Digital Universe based on its first release which has been billed as a “prototype.” The purpose of this release is to give future users a rough idea of what we’re working on–and to invite the future leaders of the project to get on board, to make it better.”

From Larry Sangers Blog. Larry is a great guy and I wanted to get some of his bloggings in front of people so I am posting a teaser and a link back to his blog.
“We want you–and all of the intellectuals of the world–to join us.
We want your help in building the Digital Universe. In just a few sentences, the Digital Universe is going to be a free, noncommercial, expert-driven but public-participatory general information service. This is a long-term project. We will use cutting-edge strategies and tools, including radical collaboration and wikis, to develop a Web directory, 3D objects (viewable online), an encyclopedia, citizen journalism, and much more. It will become the central clearinghouse for free, reusable, authoritative information. It will also be a new community. The project will reflect a new, more mature, responsible Internet culture, governed by an enforceable Charter that defines the community. But it will still be loads of fun, and hugely educational!
By the way, I was Wikipedia’s original chief organizer; in brief, Wikipedia was my idea, and I appreciate both its success and its failures. No disrespect to Jimbo and the Wikipedians intended, but this new project is going to be better than Wikipedia ever had a chance of becoming, both in terms of reliability and in many other ways. ”

So if you are going to be at Moose Camp I am doing a discussion on Personal Media Outlets - We are the Media in Room 3 from 9-9:30.
What is that you say. Well it follows in the vein of why I created this blog and the concepts that I initially laid out in the 21st Century and the New Media post .
In a nutshell I am going to go over the shifting paradigm in media and go into how I see these three technologies blogging, podcasting and vlogging changing the face of how we digest information. I draw the correlation between the “old guard” and the new breed of producers. I go into how we can challenge the entrenched major media outlets with the sheer volume of our offerings. In this discussion the underlying philosophy I want to convey is the fact that with the ease of use of offerings like WordPress and applications service providers like AudioBlog we call all be our own NBC,CBS, ABC, CNN, FOX etc. With a small investment in a few pieces of gear you could be the next Walter Cronkite or Jerry Seinfeld.
