I was asked to put together a mixed reality video by
founder Reuben Steiger, for the Toyota Scion xB they were building in Second Life. The premise was great and I was hooked right away when I heard it. The video would be shot at SLCC and then mixed with Machinima to create a mixed reality video promoting the release of the Scion into SL. It would be entitled ” How to Launch a Real Brand into a Virtual World”. The live event was planned to bring a real Scion out to Ft. Mason where SLCC was being held then set up a shot where as the Scion turns the corner, after the announcement, the driver would honk the horn and another person on the phone would give away 20 freed Scions in Second Life. This turn also signified the transition from real world into the metaverse.
I mixed this all together and laid in the track Listen!!! from Talib Kweli a great track that I really enjoyed the chance to work with.
The idea of a mixed reality video utilizing the Second Life environment was a big win not only from the aspect that Scion was being developed for SL but also from the perspective of a fast track way of creating Machinima/Animation leveraging the metaverse in an environment where you maintain you IP and have the flexability to create very interesting shots on a giant backlot that is Second Life.
I used a variety of software to create this video including Adobe Premiere, Camtasia Studio Fraps, Audacity and of course the Second Life client.
I would like to thank

Ok so I am in love with my new 8700 BlackBerry. It is the best purchase I have made in a long ….. long time. I have been reading a lot of blogs on it on Attensa mobile. It is so nice to grab this little tool and go over e-mail to see if anything is pressing.
I was on a convention floor the other day and got a pressing call. I was able to take the call read the e-mail, follow a link in the e-mail, review the site and call back with an answer. All with out leaving the booth all on my crackberry oh I am in love.
Sent via BlackBerry from Cingular Wireless.
