It is good to know that I was not alone in my support of this event. I actually knew I was not by watching the twitter chatter going on about this on 3-22-07 and a few days before. Good work to everyone and I hope this got some people thinking.

A Call to Action

March 22nd, 2007 by Johnny

I have allready purchased “Mine Again” by Black Lab, good song and a good cause. I encourage you to head over to iTunes and help push this up the charts. Let the Bum Rush Begin!!!

Podcasting gets little respect from traditional media. To them we’re little more than a joke, than amateurs. What they don’t understand is that podcasting is more than just a delivery mechanism - it’s a social movement. People are sick of the watered-down, cookie-cutter content that networks and record companies expect us to enjoy. People are tired of watching friends and loved ones get sued by record labels who only care about profits and nothing else, not even the artists they supposedly represent.
We want and deserve more. On March 22, 2007, we’re going to change that with your help.
We can do better. We can match and exceed the reach of big media, corporate media, labels, and the entrenched interests. On March 22nd, we are going to take an indie podsafe music artist to number one on the iTunes singles charts as a demonstration of our reach to Main Street and our purchasing power to Wall Street. The track we’ve chosen is “Mine Again” by the band Black Lab. A band that was dropped from not just one, but two major record labels (Geffen and Sony/Epic) and in the process forced them to fight to get their own music back. We picked them because making them number one, even for just one day, will remind the RIAA record labels of what they turned their backs on - and who they ignore at their peril.”

Ze Frank’s The Show a Year of Awesome

March 18th, 2007 by Johnny

This was my post to twitter moments after watching the final show — “finally caught Ze’s last show — ah then end is beginning and we all get a little closer to membership in the LOA - Quack!”

The Show is an amazing example of the new trend in media and how SOICAL media can be. When you can produce a show for a year five days a week and develop a community who helps you to create aspects of your show you have a REAL social network!

Thank You Ze Frank and to all the sports racers you have helped shift the way we produce and consume media in the world. Assuming we are not all eaten by the giant baby 3-18-07 and beyond will be an AWESOME time to create.

BRAVO!!!!!

300 IS EPIC!

March 11th, 2007 by Johnny

Saturday night late I went to go see 300, the film based off Frank Millers graphic novel.

I was greatly anticipating this film and it did not disappoint. Truly and Epic film with stylized violence and a mood and cinematography to match Millers graphic novel essence. The actors were up to the task and vivid scope of this movie inspired and reminded me why I want to get into more production. If you can only see one move so far this year make it this one.

Home - For the PS3

March 10th, 2007 by Johnny

Sony is taking a big step into the 3D online community space with Home.

This is another evolution in the social media/networking space. Second Life from Linden Labs has been the leader in this space over the last few years but an onslaught of competitors are going to or all ready are moving fast into this space.

The power of the console for this environment is that the developers know exactly what is under the hood of the hardware and can keep a consistent and rich experience intact for the community.

Sony will conduct a closed beta test for Home this April before rolling out the full version, which will be free for all those who download it, in the autumn.”

So it looks like this fall we will see how people take to this new Virtual Social experiment from Sony.

Look for more players in this space to emerge on console platforms because with US$ Spent Last 24h: $1,544,188 in Second Life everyone is taking notice.

The Vista Experiment - WOW!!!

March 4th, 2007 by Johnny

Over on Multi-Media Me TV and on my YouTube profile I have a set of two videos that talk about the Ultimate Vista experience. I spoke with Pirillo at Northern Voice and he is having the same pain as I am “No, seriously. When I have the time, I’m “upgrading” from Windows Vista to Windows XP.”

So from the video alone you might think that I am very negative on Microsoft and Vista which I am not. I have friends at Microsoft and have used software produced by them for ages. This has been a difficult upgrade and while it was something I felt I had to do I do have my regrets. It in no way helped that my main windows XP desktop just had a massive hardware failure. So all and all technologically the last few weeks have really sucked.

I have a server acting as my desktop and now have the laptop back and some what up to snuff on Windows XP. The UAC was the most painfully feature and the lack luster driver support really killed me. I also feel like unless you have a very good brand new PC then Vista Ultimate is not for you. I ran the system checker and it said that my system would work with Vista. It should have reported that it would work but not as advertised.

I think a 3GHZ P4 with 1.5 GB of RAM a 7200 90GB HD and an ATI with 64MB of RAM should suffice to run an OS. These experiences and the number of people that I know and trust that are headed back to or never left the Mac have lead me to rethink my future computer evolutions. I do have a major financial commitment to Windows and will continue to run it on some machines. However I am going to replace the desktop with a Mac. Now the million dollar question is which one and should I get Final Cut Pro…….?
