The Vista Experiment - WOW!!!

Over on Multi-Media Me TV and on my YouTube profile I have a set of two videos that talk about the Ultimate Vista experience. I spoke with Pirillo at Northern Voice and he is having the same pain as I am “No, seriously. When I have the time, I’m “upgrading” from Windows Vista to Windows XP.”

So from the video alone you might think that I am very negative on Microsoft and Vista which I am not. I have friends at Microsoft and have used software produced by them for ages. This has been a difficult upgrade and while it was something I felt I had to do I do have my regrets. It in no way helped that my main windows XP desktop just had a massive hardware failure. So all and all technologically the last few weeks have really sucked.

I have a server acting as my desktop and now have the laptop back and some what up to snuff on Windows XP. The UAC was the most painfully feature and the lack luster driver support really killed me. I also feel like unless you have a very good brand new PC then Vista Ultimate is not for you. I ran the system checker and it said that my system would work with Vista. It should have reported that it would work but not as advertised.

I think a 3GHZ P4 with 1.5 GB of RAM a 7200 90GB HD and an ATI with 64MB of RAM should suffice to run an OS. These experiences and the number of people that I know and trust that are headed back to or never left the Mac have lead me to rethink my future computer evolutions. I do have a major financial commitment to Windows and will continue to run it on some machines. However I am going to replace the desktop with a Mac. Now the million dollar question is which one and should I get Final Cut Pro…….?
